Preparing for Your First Structured Application

The structured application process on HBGCoNext has four statuses: Applied, Shortlisted, Selected, and Rejected. Understanding what happens at each stage will help you prepare more effectively.

Applied: Your profile and cover letter are under initial review. Make sure your profile is complete — a thin profile will be passed over even if your experience is relevant.

Shortlisted: The employer has identified you as a potential fit. At this stage, be responsive. If the employer wants to move forward, they will do so through the platform.

Selected: This is the status that unlocks direct messaging. If you reach this stage, the employer is serious. Respond promptly and professionally.

Rejected: This is useful information. Refine your profile, your cover letter approach, and the types of positions you are applying for.
